The latest news from Todmorden Town Council.
16 May should have been Mayor-Making in Todmorden, and no doubt many other places, but of course that was not possible this year. However, it was still a day for celebration! I accepted my first invitation as Mayor to attend the first Virtual Iftar in Todmorden
Todmorden Town Council is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Mayor Councillor Ruth Coleman-Taylor and Deputy Mayor Councillor The Revd Graham Kent.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the government has introduced The Accounts and Audit (Coronavirus) (Amendment) Regulations 2020. Among other provisions, these still require a local council to set a 30 working-day period for the Exercise of Public Rights, but the council is now permitted to delay this, starting on or before 1 September 2020. A further notice giving opportunity for the Exercise of Public Rights to inspect the Council’s accounts will be displayed in due course.
The Todmorden Town Council offices are temporarily closed until Government restrictions are relaxed. Todmorden Town Council has delegated powers to a reduced size Emergency Committee consisting of five Councillors. This will enable us to continue a reduced democratic function, through a remote meeting once every four weeks, but where key decisions can still be made.
The Town Council are delighted to invite nominations for people’s unsung heroes for the Citizenship Award for Todmorden 2020. The awards will be presented by the outgoing Mayor prior to the commencement of the Annual Meeting in May.
Calderdale Council has today issued three Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Orders for Todmorden.
